The Electrification of Heat (EoH) demonstration project was funded by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy* and sought to better understand the feasibility of a large-scale roll-out of heat pumps in homes across the UK. It demonstrated that heat pumps can be installed in a wide variety of homes and deliver high customer satisfaction across a range of customer groups. This dataset was derived from the monitored heat pump performance data and provides a summary of the performance data quantity and quality and the data analysis outcomes. Each column of data in this dataset is described within the data dictionary included in the "Additional Documentation". It also contains a unique property ID number which can be used to link this data to all other published project datasets. The heat pump performance data was collected at an average of 2-minute time intervals between October 2020 and September 2023. It was then stored in it's raw form. To prepare the data for analysis, data cleansing was undertaken and a cleansed dataset was produced. The cleansed data was then quality checked and analysed and the outputs of this process form this dataset. Two written reports which can be found on the Energy System Catapult website outline the process in more detail and insights derived from this data. https://es.catapult.org.uk/project/electrification-of-heat-demonstration/ *as of February 2023 Department for Energy Security and Net-Zero (DESNZ)
Notes
In addition to the summary dataset, the 2-minute granularity data (Raw, Cleansed and Aggregate) is available. These datasets can be accessed via the UK Data Archive using the following URLs: Cleansed Data (2-minute): https://beta.ukdataservice.ac.uk/datacatalogue/studies/study?id=9050 Cleansed Data (30-minute aggregate): https://beta.ukdataservice.ac.uk/datacatalogue/studies/study?id=9209 Cleansed Data (Daily aggregate): https://beta.ukdataservice.ac.uk/datacatalogue/studies/study?id=9210 Raw Data: https://beta.ukdataservice.ac.uk/datacatalogue/studies/study?id=9049 Note that these datasets are formed of multiple .csv files (one per property) which are named by Property ID number. The majority of these datasets contain a number of data lines which exceeds the capabilities of Microsoft Excel, as such knowledge of a programming language is necessary to interrogate the data. We have also published the Python code which was used to cleanse and then analyse the data, this can be accessed via the following URL: https://github.com/ES-Catapult/electrification_of_heat
